by Cheuk Seto 2/28 - another update. None of the problems below were fixed. Now one more: loading items on news feed will make the app freeze, and killing it to return to the app won't help.

Surely the updates that the app receives every other week is a good thing. But every time it makes changes that you DO see, are ones that are the most annoying and not very constructive. The last change they made was moved Messenger OUT of the Facebook app itself, and then have to make you download a separate app to use the same function. That's not a good experience and very frustrating. There is also a bug that seems to be unnoticed ever since the app allows videos to be played inline in the feeds. When you have a video playing, if you are also playing music, the app will automatically turn down the volume of your own music, so you can hear the audio from the video. This is fine, if the app is smart enough to give me back my music to normal volume afterwards, but it doesn't, and will only resume normal after killing the app. For some reasons, apps like Instagram and whatsapp (both of which are now under the Facebook empire) do multimedia sharing and messaging better. Why not combine all three, or just let the Facebook app does its best and only job - news feed.

by Sourpissedoanshfh It's getting to the point where I think that te creators of the Facebook app do not care about the comments of its actual users. I have read a lot of the reviews since your current update and no one was happy I am also not happy. This is the most frustrating app I have ever downloaded I thank you thank you thst it's free but if you're going to offer an app that's free you shouldn't advertise that it's going to be a great app like you do. It freezes it crashes I can't ehardly ever look at an article or a page that I like without the app crashing kicking me out and God for bid I go back to my newsfeed to try to look and find the same article that I was previously reading because now my Facebook has done upload 10,000 other things and status updates that were from yesterday you need to get this problem fixed and according to all of the other users I'm not the only person that feels this way I am pretty sure by your current review status that you're going to be losing a lot of Facebook app users are use my Facebook for my mini iPad as well as my Moto X phone and have many problems on my on my phone but I have Majority of my problems on my iPad

by MorbidEloquence After several attempts at accessing my Facebook without any luck, I have begun to loose hope. My fingernails scratch at "Continue as Morbid_Eloquence?" button with aimless desperation as it's appearance feels like the bars of a prison. The spinning asterisk indicating the app's attempted progress has begun mocking me, or at least I imagine it is, spinning in antagonizing hatred much like the cogs of an old broken clock... It screams to me, "keep trying! I swear this app works and very soon you will be frolicking in the sunlight of your friend's incessant complaints of first world life and sharing pictures of relationship goals without the intention of applying them in real life! Freedom awaits!" But still to no avail. I feel there may be no escape from the login screen... And the memory of me will fade into history as my Facebook sits unread like so many books in the apartments of eccentric recluses. All that will remain of me is the stench of the once intentional exploration of socializing, now mentally beaten into isolation. Why Facebook app... Why.

The longtime battle between Android and BlackBerry OS RIM does not seem to slow down. Both mobile phone operating system giants keep introducing new features and applications every now and then, making it trickier than ever for an average user to decide if he/she should go with Android or BlackBerry. Both operating systems have their own pros and cons that you need to evaluate in line with your needs, ensuring you find the right OS that fits your needs and is worth every penny you spent on it.

To help you make a better decision, here are given some advantages and disadvantages of Android and BlackBerry RIM OS:

Plus points of Android

• Being open source gives Android operating system a competitive edge in the marketplace. Open Source means programmers and developers can create their own versions of Android, i.e. custom tailored Android operating system to cater to specific needs.

• In Android Market, you will find truckloads of useful applications that are focused on enhancing your experience as a user. You can find an application for nearly any situation.

• Android OS is easily compatible with most smartphones and has minimum hardware requirements. It has a unique Swap-space management feature that lets you open multiple applications simultaneously.

• The process of synchronizing contacts, email or other personal information is also a breeze as you just need to pair your device to the desktop computer by following an easy procedure. The synchronization process is quite tricky in BlackBerry OS as you have to install some software and server.

Negative points of Android

• Poor battery life is one of the key points that may dampen your spirits to choose Android.

• Android does not have any mechanism to tell poorly designed apps apart from good ones, so you may have to go through many useless applications before finding the decent one that fits your criteria.

Blackberry RIM Os

Geared towards business professionals, BlackBerry mobile phones have recently adapted many new strategies like its close rival Android, to enhance the user experience. They have come with Push Email technology that enables you to send and receive messages instantly. The elegant keyboard provides accuracy and faster typing that is rarely found in most of its competitors. Additionally, BlackBerry phones are rugged yet stylish, and come with a data compression option, making them the number one choice of corporate users. Compared to competitors, BlackBerry has longer battery life, ensuring optimal power consumption with single full-charge.

Negative Points

BlackBerry has its own App World which is though not so popular due to poor interface and less number of applications. Its web browser is very slow, leading to sluggish response time while browsing through the web. Despite data compression feature, the browser fails to keep pace when loading web resources such as wallpapers and pictures. Being strictly business-oriented, BlackBerry overlooks the needs of average users, which makes it a not-so-good choice for the everyday person.

Which OS to choose?

Both OSs are solid and convenient, providing similar functionality. Android has more appeal though, whereas BlackBerry is preferred by business professionals and corporate users. Personal sentiments and brand loyalty may play a role in your selection of operating system.

SAN FRANCISCO: Google revealed Thursday that it has two new sophisticated Android smartphones in the works, one of which will have the unprecedented distinction of being made in the United States.

An HTC One smartphone customized to be "Google's take on Android" will make its US debut on June 26 at a price of $599, the head of Android, Chrome and Google Apps said at an AllThingsD conference in California.

"It's a great device," Google executive Sundar Pichai said during an on-stage interview.

Google Edition handsets by Taiwan-based HTC will be compatible with carriers AT&T and T-Mobile.

Pichai made the disclosure a day after Motorola Mobility head Dennis Woodside said on the same stage that the company's was preparing to release its first smartphone since being bought by Google.

The smartphone would be called Moto X and be made in a facility near Fort Worth, Texas, Woodside said.

"It is the first smartphone that is going to be built in the United States," Woodside said, noting that the plant would employ about 2,000 people by August.

"We think that it is going to allow us to innovate and iterate that much faster."

Components for Motorola smartphones will come from Taiwan, South Korea, the United States and elsewhere with about 70 percent of the assembly done in Texas, Woodside said.

Moto X would set itself apart from other smartphones with advanced use of sensors such as gyroscopes and accelerometers to make devices adapt to the conditions or circumstances in which they are being used, Woodside said.

ZTE Geek

ZTE sends word of a newly-announced device at the Intel Developer Forum in Beijing, China. The ZTE Geek (yes, that's actually it's name) packs the latest smartphone chip from Intel -- the CloverTrail+-based Atom Z2580 at 2GHz -- alongside Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The device's other specs are reasonably high-end, if not cutting-edge. It's got 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, a 5-inch 720p display and an 8-megapixel rear camera.

With the latest Intel CPU and the latest version of Android (not to mention its unconventional name and IDF unveiling) it's possible ZTE might be aiming this device at tech enthusiasts rather than average consumers. We'll have to wait and see how the manufacturer markets the Geek in the months ahead.

The new handset follows on from ZTE's previous collaboration with Intel, in the mid-range Grand X IN, released late last year. ZTE reps weren't able to confirm whether the Geek will see release in the UK or anywhere else outside of China, nor was there any information on release timeframes or pricing.
