Season 7 returns in explosive fashion, as Dexter is finally forced to confront his greatest fear, as Debra witnesses his insatiable, ritualistic slaying of a killer. Now Deb knows the secret of his Dark Passenger, his undeniable thirst for blood, and the Code that their father Harry instilled in him as a young boy. But as Deb tries to reconcile the unfathomable idea that her beloved, mild-mannered brother is Miami’s most notorious serial killer, Dexter is still pulled by his natural impulses to seek out the guilty and exact his brand of vigilante justice, which leads him on the trail of a brutal Ukrainian mobster. Along the way, Dexter meets Hannah McKay, a strong, independent woman with a past that she's struggled to put behind her. As a turn of events leads Miami Metro Homicide to ask for her help in solving some old cases, Dexter works with her and begins to wonder if there's more to this woman than she's professed.

Vikings Travis Fimmel - H 2013

The History channel has renewed Vikings for a second season.

The cable network has ordered 10 more episodes for its first scripted drama, created by Michael Hirst, it was announced Friday by Dirk Hoogstra, executive vp development and programming for History. Production on season two will begin in the summer for a 2014 return.

"Vikings is a win win for us. As our first scripted series, Vikings has paid off in a big way with critical acclaim, strong ratings and a passionate, loyal fan base. It came out of the gate strong and has stayed on top, solidifying History as a major player in the scripted genre, just as we are in reality,” said Hoogstra. “We could not be more proud of the entire cast and crew and everyone involved in the making of Vikings. Michael Hirst has captured audiences with his complex, compelling characters and brought the unknown, epic world of these warriors to life."

Vikings debuted in early March to 6.2 million viewers, helping propel History to No. 1 in the show's 10 p.m. Sunday  slot. During the first five weeks, Vikings has averaged 5 million viewers, with 2.2 million among adults 25-54 and 1.9 million in 18-49. For its most recent episode, the drama drew 4.7 million viewers.

Sunday's installment will begin a big test for Vikings (brought to History by MGM Television), as it will finish off the rest of season one without Mark Burnett's The Bible as a lead-in. That wrapped its run with 11.7 million viewers on Easter Sunday.

Canada’s History on Friday also followed the stateside lead and picked up Vikings for the 10-episode second season. The Shaw Media cable channel has secured an average of 942,000 viewers for the Canadian-Irish co-production from World 2000 and Take 5 Productions.

Vikings follows the lives and adventures of the Dark Age raiders, traders and explorers through the eyes of the Viking society. Travis Fimmel, Gabriel Byrne, Katheryn Winnick, Jessalyn Gilsig, George Blagden, Clive Standen and Gustaf Skarsgard star. Hirst serves as an executive producer along with Morgan O'Sullivan, John Weber, Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer, James Flynn and Sheila Hockin.

Vikings' season finale is set for April 28.

Mad Men Don Draper S6 Premiere - H 2013

Mad Men can be hard enough to keep track of without the nine-month lapse in seasons. Characters drift in and out, the styles of the '60s evolve, and one episode can suddenly find one of the gorgeous stars suffocating in a fat suit.

So for those tuning into the AMC drama's season-six opener on Sunday, April 7, now is probably a good time for a quick refresher in where we last saw Don Draper and his many cohorts.

Don Draper (Jon Hamm): Dealing with a toothache and remorse for the death of Lane Pryce, Don finally caved to his new wife's pleas to assist her acting career. He was last seen alone at a bar being approached by a woman. "Are you alone?" she asked. Cue ambiguous Draper face and a signature Mad Men cliffhanger.

PHOTOS: 'Mad Men' Season 6 Premiere

Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss): The squishy center of the jelly doughnut that is Mad Men, Don and Peggy's odd and indelible bond, seemed to be in jeopardy when Peggy abruptly left Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce for a pay raise and title improvement at CGC. But the two reconnected during a chance encounter at a movie theater, and a still-empowered Peggy finished the season happily coupled with boyfriend Abe and gawking at humping dogs outside of her Richmond motel room.

Roger Sterling (John Slattery): Our last glimpse of Roger was technically of his butt, as the single-yet-again playboy looked out at the city from his hotel room, discovering himself with another acid trip. LCD had previously prompted the existentially stalled adman to dump wife Jane, but he seemed at peace with his decision.

Betty Francis (January Jones): After the shock of Betty's prosthetics and fat suit wore off, everyone's favorite morally bankrupt mother seemed to lighten up a bit. She and Sally ended the season on a rare moment of connection, though husband Henry Francis still seems more or less incidental. And her mother-in-law would drive anyone to binge eating.

Pete Campbell (Vincent Kartheiser): Though Mad Men has hinted at Pete's tenuous mortality on more than a few occasions, it really dangled the snide account executive over the proverbial pit when he spectacularly failed at adjusting to married life in the suburbs. His affair with Beth (Alexis Bledel) drove her back to the arms of electroshock therapy, which caused her to forget he ever existed. Broken, Pete spilled the beans about the tryst to Beth's husband, who left him bloodied and bruised -- but still alive!

Sally Draper (Kiernan Shipka): During an especially ill-advised jaunt to the Natural History Museum with creepy Glenn, Sally got her period. It was an awkward end to a season that saw the most adorable Draper dress up and go to the Codfish Ball as Roger's date, but it did seem to put her back on good terms with Fat Betty.

TV REVIEW: Mad Men Season 6

Joan Harris (Christina Hendricks): Ignoring, for a moment, the characters who didn't make it through the last season, Joan might have had the toughest road of late. Things went south for the new mother when her husband, Greg the rapist doctor, returned home from Vietnam. He voluntarily reinlisted, she threw him out, and he filed for divorce. Joan took another hit when she slept with a Jaguar executive to secure his account. On the bright side, she made partner and finally seemed to officially segue into the boys' club.

Megan Draper (Jessica Pare): After singing her way into our hearts, poor Megan saw a lot of the joy sapped from her during season five, realizing that being Mrs. Draper isn't the easiest title to have and the advertising game just wasn't her shtick. After she bowed out of her job at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, she took acting classes, appeared in an awkward play and finally convinced Don to help her get a job in a commercial.

Lane Pryce (Jared Harris): Uh oh, that's right. The title partner of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce is now that in name only. Driven to a mental break by mounting debt, the Brit hung himself in his office toward the end of season five.

The 60s: Covering just about a year, the most recent season of Mad Men left off in spring of 1967. The Civil Rights movement was reaching its crescendo, opposition to the Vietnam War was mounting, and Lyndon B. Johnson was serving his final term as President of the United States. If you're placing bets on historical subplots for this year, odds are in favor of the 1968 presidential election, the Chicago DNC protests and the assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr.

Steven R. McQueen, whose Jeremy Gilbert died at the hands of Silas in a February episode, will return before the fourth season wraps up in May, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

The context of McQueen's reappearance on The CW vampire drama is being kept under wraps, and as TVLine first reported, there will be other familiar faces popping up.

Because of its supernatural nature, The Vampire Diaries has brought back characters from the dead over the course of its four seasons, including Vicki (Kayla Ewell), Anna (Malese Jow), Lexi (Arielle Kebbel) and Alaric (Matt Davis).

The Vampire Diaries returns April 18.

Dexter

Showtime has unspooled the second teaser for the upcoming eighth season of Dexter and it's only slightly less cryptic than the first.

After the first promo offered the names of most of Dexter's (Michael C. Hall) victims, the new spot offers a window into the mind of the serial killer with a code.

PHOTOS: Comic-Con 2012: 6 All-Stars Talk Fans, Mortifying Auditions and How Their Shows Should End at THR's Roundtable

"I've always been a very neat monster but lately the truth has begun to spill," he warns. "And too many people have seen the full picture. I'm losing control. And the only thing I know for sure is that it isn't going to be pretty."

Judging from the Dexter-styled blood splatter in the promo below, he's clearly very right.

Showtime has yet to make a formal decision on the future of the long-running drama co-starring Jennifer Carpenter, though CBS Corp. chief Les Moonves -- who oversees sibling network Showtime -- recently called the upcoming eighth season the show's "last."

Dexter returns Sunday, June 30 on Showtime for its first spring bow. Watch the creepy promo, below, and hit the comments with your thoughts.

Richard E. Grant - P 2013

The pieces for Girls' third season are starting to fall into place.

Following news of Christopher Abbott's departure from the critically-adored HBO comedy, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that British actor Richard E. Grant is set to appear. Details are thin on the character, but Grant will guest star in the season three premiere, playing Jasper.

STORY: 'Girls' Star Christopher Abbott Departs Series

Grant, whose film credits include The Iron Lady, Dracula and -- quite memorably -- Spice World, most recently top-lined the Doctor Who Christmas special.

Earlier this week, the actor took to Twitter to lament last-minute passport troubles for a trip to the U.S., presumably for his Girls gig.

Grant is repped by Artist Rights Group in the U.K.

He was last seen alone at a bar being approached by a woman. "Are you alone?" she asked. Cue ambiguous Draper face and a signature Mad Men cliffhanger.

Dexter

Showtime has unspooled the second teaser for the upcoming eighth season of Dexter and it's only slightly less cryptic than the first.

After the first promo offered the names of most of Dexter's (Michael C. Hall) victims, the new spot offers a window into the mind of the serial killer with a code.
