The late Nora Ephron is getting the documentary treatment at HBO.
Ephron's son, journalist Jacob Bernstein, is developing what is being billed as an intimate portrait of his mother, the acclaimed writer/director known for such films as When Harry Met Sally …, Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail. He will direct and co-produce the project, titled Everything Is Copy, which was a lesson that her mother, also a self-reflective screenwriter, had taught her early on.

Nick Hooker will join Bernstein as a co-director, while Matt Parker and Carly Hugo (a producer on HBO's 2011 Hot Coffee doc) are attached as producers on the effort set up at HBO Documentary Films. Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter, who won an Emmy and Peabody award for 9/11, is on board as an executive producer. Carter previously teamed with HBO on His Way, a documentary centered on legendary producer Jerry Weintraub.
News of the doc comes nearly a year after Ephron -- at once a journalist, novelist, playwright, director and Oscar-nominated screenwriter -- died of pneumonia, a complication resulting from acute myeloid leukemia. She was 71. Her death took the industry as well as many of her friends by surprise as she had kept her illness a tightly guarded secret.
In early March, Bernstein penned a lengthy remembrance of his mother's final days in a New York Times magazine entry entitled Nora Ephron's Final Act. Included in the piece was a retelling of her last moments of consciousness, which were marked by still-sharp jokes, crossword puzzles and hallucinations. More recently, Ephron's Tom Hanks-fronted play, Lucky Guy, about charismatic New York journalist Mike McAlary, debuted on Broadway.

The pieces for Girls' third season are starting to fall into place.
Following news of Christopher Abbott's departure from the critically-adored HBO comedy, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that British actor Richard E. Grant is set to appear. Details are thin on the character, but Grant will guest star in the season three premiere, playing Jasper.
STORY: 'Girls' Star Christopher Abbott Departs Series
Grant, whose film credits include The Iron Lady, Dracula and -- quite memorably -- Spice World, most recently top-lined the Doctor Who Christmas special.
Earlier this week, the actor took to Twitter to lament last-minute passport troubles for a trip to the U.S., presumably for his Girls gig.
Grant is repped by Artist Rights Group in the U.K.

'Fashion Star' Sneak Peek: Daniel and Johana Must Work Together After Disagreement (Exclusive Video)
Nicole Richie probably didn't realize she'd have to play mediator -- in addition to mentor -- on this season of Fashion Star.
In Friday night's episode of the NBC design competition, the remaining competitors are challenged to work in pairs to create one single look together. To up the stakes, the pair with the highest total sales will be given immunity.
STORY: 'Fashion Star': EP Ben Silverman, Host Louise Roe Spill Secrets on Season 2 Revamp
Unfortunately for Daniel Silverstein and Johana Hernandez -- Richie's two remaining team members -- the twist means that they are forced to work together on the heels of a disagreement the week before.
As seen in this clip, which is exclusive to The Hollywood Reporter, Richie is forced to mediate between the two.
"I think to me sometimes you come off, you're very just about what you want to do and you're not open to hearing people," Johana tells Daniel.
"I actually feel exactly the same about you," he retorts.
Fashion Star airs at 8 p.m. Fridays on NBC.
