Jessica Lu Headshot - P 2012

ABC's Westside is getting an Awkward injection.

Jessica Lu, who plays Ming on MTV's critical darling, has booked a guest gig on the ABC drama pilot, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.

The soap about the haves and the have-not's of Venice, Calif., focuses on two rival families and a forbidden and dangerous romance emerging between them as them as they battle for control of Venice.

Lu will play Eva, Sophie's (Breaking In's Odette Annable) employee and confidant at her Venice boutique who urges her pursuit of Chris (Luke Bracey).

She'll guest star in the pilot and should the drama from writer Byron Belasco (Without a Trace) and showrunner Ilene Chaiken (The L Word) move to series, potentially recur.

The casting comes as MTV is in production on the supersized third season of Awkward, where Lu has been a mainstay as Jenna's scene-stealing friend Ming.

Lu, whose credits also include The New Normal and the upcoming feature About Last Night, is repped by APA, Luber-Roklin Entertainment and Lichter Grossman.
